What a nifty idea!

Electronic Luggage Locator
I have not seen one of these before but I can see how they would be a great idea!!
”Locate your luggage with a press of a button using a handy remote that fits on your keychain. Attach the receiver unit to your luggage handle, and then when you’re waiting in baggage claim, simply press your remote and the receiver will beep and flash.”
You can just stick with your coloured ribbons too!

I found them varied in prices and models on eBay, AUD $20 upwards

sounds great for the ship disembarkment, but not for the planes: I found this on the internet :
“Electronic “luggage locators” are a no-go for travel. Transport Canada has advised all airlines that the use of electronic “luggage locators” are not recommended on the exterior of any bag. Until further notice, customers will be required to remove the electronic devices from all bags prior to check-in. Customer can place the device on the inside of their checked or carry-on baggage or on their person. Transport Canada requested that airlines advise customers that the devices have not yet been approved by Transport Canada and must not be activated. Transport Canada is evaluating the “luggage locator” and will provide an update shortly.”

I checked more info on the internet about it, and I guess it is fine to use devices like these after cruise, but one should be aware that some of those “key or pet finders” do behave very uncontrolled and peep either not when needed, or they beep whenever they want … could become embarrassing

I remember it was quite a hassle to find our luggage when disembarking in Vancouver last time. That was with Celebrity, and they used different colors of labels for different decks, and normally all the luggage of a certain deck (color) is put one next to the other in a hall and you have to find your luggage in long rows of same looking suitcases.

So I think a special color ribbon at the handle of your suitcase will do the job as well!

I think we will be keeping to a ribbon too, sounds like this nifty idea is more of a pain than anything.
