What is a “Rap Jump” I hear you say?

Rap Jumping is Abseiling Forward and it’s been practised by the military for decades and former SAS soldier Macka MacKail’s is one of it’s best proponents in the world! It was invented by the Australian Army in the late 60’s and is locally known as the “Carabina Rundown” – internationally it’s known as the Aussie Rappel – after-all, we invented it!

Macka MacKail named the unique style he perfected during his years in the SAS “Rap Jumping” and he began his commercial operations in Cairns in 1989. He’s been teaching people how to safely rap jump for 23 years now and his company has a spotless 100% safety record so you couldn’t be in better hands!

Rap Jumping

Commercial operation of Rap Jumping started in 1989 with the issue of permits from the Mulgrave Shire Council in the Barron Gorge Cairns on the site known as the Hinge, (Split Rock) and Macka’s Bluff which has 6 different jump faces.
This led to jumping from high rise buildings.
The first of the buildings jumped was the Pacific Hotel, Cairns in 1989, and subsequently the first fully commercial operation at the Gold Coast International Hotel, Surfers Paradise.

About the Deal

Half day tours are a “sampler” for the exciting and fun activity of sea kayaking. These tours require little time commitment and minimal fitness and are great for a party activity. So come along and view Melbourne from the water.

You will paddle in a double sea kayak which is both stable and fast. Along the way you will enjoy the brilliant commentary/knowledge of our guides as we travel the Melbourne foreshore and get a unique perspective on this amazing city of ours.
Because we want to make sure this experience is as enjoyable and safe as possible a safety briefing and basic skills session is conducted before your tour departs.
Everyone is welcome on a Sea Kayak Adventure – No experience is necessary and only a basic fitness level is required.

Today on our way back home we noticed a ship at station pier, and we decided to go there to have a look. We realized it was the Spirit of Tasmania, a small ship that goes from Melbourne to Tasmania daily. We have seen the Spirit of Tasmania many times but knowing that the Dawn Princess is going to be there soon we took the opportunity to take a few photos for you all. It’s actually a nice walk down station pier, we have done it many a time, even our dog too has been for a walk. There is a fish and chip shop about a 10 minute walk that we used to go to quite a lot and then after our meal we would leisurely stroll down to the pier and look at the wonderful city o Melbourne.
I didn’t have my good camera with me so apologies about the quality.

Not long till you all begin your cruise on the Dawn Princess from Melbourne to Sydney!! Looking forward to meeting you all on Easter Sunday and popping in to say hello on your Roll Call!! Best wishes for a wonderful cruise too!!
